Last year, darling, this literary gem faced the tantalizing game of votes, only to bow down to the enigmatic 'One Last Secret.' Oh, the drama! Fast forward to August, and guess who couldn't resist diving into its pages? Yours truly. Now, I sense your curiosity – after indulging in both, which masterpiece reigns supreme? Hush, sweet reader, the verdict remains elusive. Yet, let me spill the tea; this book had me dialing my mother-in-law faster than a scoop of the most scandalous church whispers. Trust me, it may start as a leisurely stroll, but grip tight, for the thrill it unveils will leave you breathless.
Let me tell you, it all started in Lexington Al, in the year 1917. Now, Maggie, the daughter of a drunk and night walker and Hubert, a PK kid if I ever did see one, decide it's best they get hitched. Now they been friends since they were younger, so no one was shocked by learning this. But this marriage isn't like any normal marriage. Maggie and Hubert have a secret, one that could be awful dangerous if it ever got out.

Now you didn't hear it from me, but there's talk around town that Hubert ain't like other men and that Maggie, well we all know that she only with him to move up in the world. Do you blame her?! With a drunken skunk for a daddy and a ahem, momma like that. Child was dealt a bad hand that's for sure. How they managed to keep their lips tight enough to pull the wool over Hubert's parents' heads, I don't know. And how they come by that beautiful baby boy, also got me puzzled. But anyway, that baby grew into a boy and that boy into a man, and word is he done got himself involved with that hussy down the way, you know, the one they say chased her last man off with a shotgun. Yeah, she is something else, that girl. Well, she got her hooks in Claude something serious, and Maggie and Hubert don't care for her much. Matter of fact no one does.
But when this girl finally crossed too many lines, I believe Maggie gave her what she gave that good for nothing brother of her boss. That man was evil reincarnated. But she got the message loud and clear if you catch my drift. And speaking of evil, I sho' am glad that hateful old neighbor finally moved on, that man couldn't stand the sight of his own reflection. That old buzzard wasn't fit to walk this earth. Lawd, I used to pray for his poor wife, she had to be kindest woman in all of Lexington to put up with that old troll. You know once he died Hubert's funeral business started kickin' again. And no I don't think that no coincidence either! The whole town knew that Hubert was struggling. I guess folks just wasn't dying like they used to. And I have my thoughts, but I'll keep them between me and the lord.
Now that's it! I'm not giving away nothing else, you want your fix you're gonna have to get the book like everyone else. But look before I go, let me say this, if you like historical fiction and some good ol' gossip. You'll like this one real good. You have never read a book like this one. This that kind of book that make you wanna fry up some chicken, clean some collards, and sit on the front porch with nice sweet tea. Now I done told you all I could tell. Go on now! Cause if it's up to me, I'd give it 4 ⭐️ . Enough for me to read, but not enough to read again, and not enough to read the sequels.
You had me hooked! I couldn't wait to get back on the porch with Mrs. Wiggins. But, you lost me with your last sentence. I'm ok with 4 🌟 but you wouldn't read it again or the sequel. Maybe Mrs. Wiggins isn't that interesting after all.
Girllll, I wish you could’ve seen my face while reading this post. You’re a storytelling and hypewoman! Suffice it to say, I will be reading about Mrs. Wiggins (my copy will be delivered on Sunday) 🤣🤣
